About the position
You will fulfil vital functions in the role of Executive Director. Brussels-based presence is preferred, but not required from the start.
You will organize and direct the office of the Agency and will be responsible for the implementation of the tasks assigned to the Agency by the General Assembly and Management Board. You will be expected to work with the Board of Accreditation and be responsible for coordinating the Agency’s accreditation activities. In particular, you will be expected to lead and manage the Agency, taking overall responsibility for its operations and objectives:

  • Day-to-day administration and operation of APHEA;
  • Preparing and implementing the procedures, decisions, strategies, programmes and activities adopted by the General Assembly and the Management Board, within the limits set out by the Agency rules and statutes;
  • Work with the Management Board to ensure appropriate governance of the Agency following the terms of the Agency statutes;
  • Reporting on the implementation of work programmes, the development and the functioning of the Agency’s accreditation services and activities;
  • Travel for site visits of applicant organisations undergoing Agency accreditation services as needed;
  • Preparing and reporting the Agency's annual report and statement of estimates of revenue and expenditure, and preparing the draft budget for the following year.

  • The initial duration of the contract is two (2) years, including a probationary period of nine (9) months, with the possibility of contract renewal.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Be a citizen of or have permit to work in an EU Member State;
  • Have completed university and graduate level studies lasting at least five years, doctoral studies are a plus.
  • Have accumulated at least 10 years of relevant full-time professional experience after obtaining your degree;
  • Possess proficient language skills: C1 level in English as the working language. Knowledge of other EU official language(s) is a plus;
  • Have senior management experience, showing strong people management skills;
  • Have experience in the management of financial resources, including administrative, budgetary planning and internal control;
  • Proven experience in the areas of quality assurance, accreditation and professionalization in Public Health or other discipline is a plus;
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and organisational skills;
  • Ability to communicate fluently and efficiently and promote and build good working relations with a variety of institutions seeking accreditation services, as well as to represent the Agency internationally.
