APHEA Engages with Polish Schools of Public Health at “Public Health Now!” Conference in Kraków

APHEA was pleased to contribute to the international conference “Public Health Now! Security – Governance – Education”, held in Kraków on 18–19 June 2026 and hosted by the Institute of Public Health, Jagiellonian University Medical College.

The event brought together academic institutions, public health professionals, policy stakeholders and international experts to reflect on the future of public health education, governance and preparedness in Poland and across Europe.

APHEA was represented by Professor Paul BarachDr Yannis Skalkidis and Dr Danko Relić. Their participation underlined APHEA’s continued commitment to supporting schools and programmes of public health through international peer review, quality assurance and constructive academic dialogue.

The conference provided an important opportunity for APHEA to engage directly with Polish schools of public health and institutional leaders on the evolving needs of public health education. Discussions focused on how academic programmes can respond to contemporary challenges, including health security, workforce development, governance, emergency preparedness, digital transformation and the strengthening of public health competencies.

The APHEA delegation welcomed the opportunity to exchange views with Polish academic colleagues and explore future collaboration with schools and programmes interested in curriculum validation, programme accreditation and institutional accreditation. Engagements such as this are central to APHEA’s mission to advance the quality, credibility and international recognition of public health education.

APHEA thanks the organizers, speakers and participants of “Public Health Now!” for creating a timely and constructive platform for dialogue. The discussions in Kraków reaffirmed the shared commitment of public health schools, accreditation bodies and European partners to educate and prepare the next generation of public health professionals.

Through continued collaboration with institutions in Poland and across Europe, APHEA looks forward to supporting excellence, innovation and trust in public health education.
