APHEA Welcomes Dr. Laura Magaña to its Management Board

APHEA is proud to welcome Dr. Laura Magaña as a new member of its Management Board, following her appointment by the APHEA General Assembly.

Dr. Magaña is an outstanding global leader in academic public health, with extensive international experience in public health education, institutional transformation, workforce development, and international collaboration. She currently serves as President and CEO of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), where she leads strategic efforts to advance excellence, leadership, and collaboration across academic public health.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Magaña has played a transformative role in strengthening public health education worldwide. She previously served as Dean of the School of Public Health of Mexico at the National Institute of Public Health and was the founding President of the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH), an international alliance representing schools and programmes of public health across the world.

Her work has consistently focused on innovation in education, the development of public health competencies, leadership capacity, global partnerships, and the preparation of a skilled and resilient public health workforce. She has also contributed extensively to scientific literature and international initiatives addressing the future of public health education and practice.

Dr. Magaña’s appointment brings exceptional strategic leadership, global visibility, and deep expertise to APHEA at an important moment of growth and international engagement. Her experience and commitment will further strengthen APHEA’s mission to support quality, transparency, and continuous improvement in public health education.
