Curriculum Validation

Curriculum Validation is an APHEA quality award that applies primarily to Master-level public health programmes, with Bachelor-level programmes also eligible where they demonstrate appropriate public health scope, structure, and competencies.

The validation serves both as a standalone quality mark for curricula and as a formal prerequisite for programmes seeking APHEA Programme or Institutional Accreditation. It confirms that a curriculum meets international standards for modern, comprehensive public health education, including the required core structure, subject areas, and learning outcomes.

Curriculum Validation is granted for a defined period:

Six years when undertaken as part of an programme/institutional accreditation pathway

Four years when awarded as a standalone quality mark

Validated programmes receive international recognition of academic quality and alignment with European public health standards. They are authorised to use the APHEA Validation logo, are publicly listed on the APHEA website, and gain enhanced visibility among prospective students, employers, and partners.

Beyond recognition, the validation process supports curriculum development and continuous improvement through structured criteria and peer review, providing constructive feedback to strengthen programme design and learning outcomes.

Importantly, validated programmes become part of the APHEA community—an international network of public health schools, educators, and experts committed to excellence, collaboration, and innovation in public health education across Europe and beyond. Curriculum Validation also provides a clear and supported pathway toward full APHEA Programme or Institutional Accreditation, enabling institutions to plan their accreditation journey with confidence.

Curriculum Validation assures institutions and students that the programme meets the essential requirements expected from public health education across Europe.
