New Article in BMJ Global Health: Strengthening Global Health Systems

A recent article published in BMJ Global Health highlights the need for stronger, more coordinated and system-driven approaches to global health.

As global health challenges become increasingly complex, the article just published No health without workforce: reinforcing public health capacity amidst global shifts emphasises the importance of coherent, nationally led and regionally aligned strategies to strengthen health systems and improve outcomes.

It highlights the importance of building strong, coordinated, and resilient systems across the global health landscape—APHEA contributes by strengthening quality and coherence in public health education.

Through its work, APHEA supports institutions in ensuring that their programmes meet internationally recognised standards of quality, relevance and continuous improvement.

Accreditation contributes to:

  • Strengthening the quality and consistency of public health education
  • Enhancing transparency and trust across institutions and systems
  • Supporting the development of a competent and adaptable workforce

As global health increasingly relies on coordinated, multidisciplinary responses, quality-assured education systems are a fundamental part of the solution. This also requires strong collaboration across key actors in the field, including the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER)International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI), World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) and Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).
